99 Days of a Training is a 99-part series that I will document my daily progress towards my first marathon. Each day I plan on recognizing a word or phrase that corresponds with that dayâs training. This series will conclude on May 6th, 2012 when I toe the start line (or somewhere in the back of the pack) at the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, OH.
Big leap forward today.
No, I didn’t get out running (that’ll come tomorr0w), but I did go to the doctor for a follow-up visit from last week. It appears I had a nasty virus that kicked my butt for 10-12 days, and though I’m not 100% better, I am almost there. I still have a few questions marks revealed in blood tests that I have to follow-up on, but that will come down the road. First, a trip to a GI doctor to see why my liver function tests were abnormal, then a re-test of all my tests in about 6 weeks to see if there is any lingering concerns.
Originally they were wanting me to see a rheumatologist on top of the GI doctor due to my ANA levels, but since I’m feeling better and have no aches/pains he’s leaning towards that being a false-positive. We’ll re-test that stuff again in 6 weeks and if it is still there off to the rheumatologist I shall go.
Anyway, I was not told to hold back or restrict my training, so barring any set backs I’m going to hit the grown running again in the morning. I hope to get in a long run this weekend, but don’t know yet what I’ll do (I already missed my 18 & 20). With less than 7 weeks until the Flying Pig I got plenty of time to get back where I need to be.
Thanks for the prayers and support, they have meant a lot to me over the past few weeks. Let’s hope this is all just a distant memory henceforth.
