Welcome to my blog! Just a bit about me. I’m father, husband, tech geek, motorcycle rider, and now runner. This blog is primarily devoted to my health and fitness, but we’ll see where times takes us.
To expand a bit on the list:
I’m a father of 2 boys. Our oldest is Elijah, who was born in March of 2008. We also have our newest addition, Malachi who was born in June of 2011. I like to refer to them as my brat and my brat-in-training. They are my reason for my running. Thinking about their future is why I decided to do something about my health. I want to be around for every aspect of their life so I’m not going to let my health be a block in that happening. Exercise keeps you healthy, I plan on staying that way.
I’m a husband to Jessica. We’ve been married since July 16th, 2005. I sometimes joke that it seems like 20 years, but in reality she is a wonderful wife and an even better mommy to our kids. I’m blessed to have her and the boys.
I’m a tech geek… how do you even explain this? As a career I’m a Systems Engineer with a Solutions Provider in Lexington, KY. I primarily focus on VMware products and solutions. I’m that guy who is always having to be the first to have a new tech toy, which is good and bad. I’m an Android fanatic all the way.
I’m a motorcycle rider on occasions. Since picking up running my motorcycle riding has degraded. I own a Honda Shadow which I’ve had since February of 2009. It’s a fun hobby that I hope in the future I can pick up on more.
I’m a runner… strange to say. Had you known me growing up, or even past growing up, running is the last thing you’d associate with me. Having only started running around October of 2010, I’m still pretty new. Even then I just trotted a bit in between walking. It wasn’t until I decided to do the Couch to 5K program that I really picked it up. I can’t recall exactly when I started, but that was the turning point. I didn’t really know what I was getting into then.
Since I completed the program I’ve went on to run many, many miles. I’ve completed a 3K, numerous 5Ks, a 5 miler, a 10k, and soon (I say that now, and I’ll forget to edit this later, so refer to my Race Calendar) a half marathon. I’m hoping in spring of 2012 to be ready for a full marathon. Suggestions are highly welcomed for a good one to run. If you want to see more about my running in more real-time, refer to my RunKeeper profile.
