99 Days of a Training is a 99-part series that I will document my daily progress towards my first marathon. Each day I plan on recognizing a word or phrase that corresponds with that day’s training. This series will conclude on May 6th, 2012 when I toe the start line (or somewhere in the back of the pack) at the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, OH.
Today begins the Wednesday taper. Only 7 miles today as opposed to the 10 last week. I have to admit it was pretty brutal. The good thing is RunKeeper freaked out and didn’t give me my audio alerts otherwise I would have probably been upset during the run. I only managed to put down an 11:15 pace (RunKeeper data)… that is horrible! But, it was a ‘long’ run and it matters more about the feet time & mileage than the speed.
Nutrition wise I probably did something I shouldn’t have: I didn’t eat nearly enough. Granted, I still ate about 2,000 calories, but with my exercise factored in my goal, according to MyFitnessPal, was about 3,1000. I enjoy having a surplus, but perhaps having almost 1,200 extra is too much. Oh well, it is just giving me some wiggle-room tomorrow for when I fly to LA. You can never eat healthy when spending your day in an airplane or airport.
