So, I never got around to writing a post after my first 5k. You’d think I would have rushed home to do that. Truth is, I rushed home to get in bed to warm up after the cold, very wet temperatures. Good news is I ran a pretty good time. I completed the race in 32’37″, which was good enough for 106th out of 218. I am very pleased with that considering most of my training had been in the 34-36 range.
Coming up next is the Run the Bluegrass 5k. Hopefully in that one I can improve on my time. My goal is to get under 30 minutes by the end of the year. I have 7 races picked out I want to run, and a goal of 10. I need to find 3 more it looks like. Suggestions are welcome.
So on to last night. Last night I put in my first run since the 5k… 5 days is the longest I’ve gone between running in a while. It really showed too. I put in 4 miles in a horrible time of just under 49 minutes. That is about 6 minutes off my best for that distance. The flip side is I did keep at a slow pace from the start and my HRM barely complained unlike most times. I had a good average heart rate, which in turn bumped my fat calories burned up more than usual.
